Even the Wind Obeys
Read: Mark 4:35-41 (KJV)
35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Read the whole chapter ›What it means
The disciples were in a boat when a huge storm hit. Waves were filling the boat, and they were terrified. Meanwhile, Jesus was asleep! When they woke Him, He simply said, "Peace, be still," and the wind and sea went completely calm. The disciples were amazed and asked, "What manner of man is this?" Only God has power over creation, and this showed that Jesus is God. You might face storms too: a fight with a friend, a hard test, trouble at home, or worries that keep you up at night scrolling on your phone. Jesus is not afraid of your storm, and He is not far away from it. The same Jesus who calmed the sea is with you. You can call on Him when life feels out of control.

Think about it
- What "storm" in your life feels the biggest right now?
- Why do you think Jesus could sleep during the storm?
- How does knowing Jesus has power over everything change the way you handle fear?
Pray
Jesus, You are stronger than any storm. When I feel scared or overwhelmed, help me remember that You are with me. Please bring Your peace to the storms in my life right now. Amen.
