God Rested
Today's Bible story
From Genesis 2:1-3
In six days, God made the heaven and the earth and everything in them. He made the light and the sky. He made the land, the seas, and the plants. He made the sun, moon, and stars. He made the fish, the birds, and the animals. And He made people. All of it was finished. On the seventh day, God rested from all His work. God was not tired, because God never gets tired. He rested because His work was all done, and it was very good. God blessed the seventh day and made it special and holy. God gave us a pattern. We work, and then we rest. We can take time to rest, to worship God, and to thank Him for all He has made. That is one reason we go to church and spend time with God's family. Today, take a moment to rest and remember. Everything you see, God made. And He made it very good.
Verse to remember
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
Talk about it
- What did God do on the seventh day?
- Why did God rest?
- How can your family make time to rest and worship God?
Pray
Dear God, thank You for making everything and for making it very good. Thank You for days to rest and worship You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
