Come, Follow Jesus
Today's Bible story
From Mark 1:16-20
One day Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers named Simon and Andrew. They were fishermen, throwing their nets into the water. Jesus said to them, "Come and follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." That meant they would help bring people to God. Right away, Simon and Andrew left their nets and followed Jesus. A little farther down, Jesus saw two more brothers, James and John. They were in their boat with their father, fixing their nets. Jesus called them too. They left the boat and followed Jesus. This week you learned that Jesus is God's Son. He came as a baby. He loves children. He is stronger than storms. He died for our sins and rose again. Jesus still calls people today, and that includes you. Following Jesus means loving Him, trusting Him, and learning to obey Him. If you want to follow Jesus, you can tell Him in prayer. You can also talk with your parent or Pastor Meredith about it.
Verse to remember
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (KJV)
Talk about it
- What did Jesus say to Simon and Andrew?
- What did the fishermen do when Jesus called them?
- What does it mean to follow Jesus?
Pray
Dear Jesus, thank You for loving me so much. I want to love You and follow You. Please help me learn more about You every day. Amen.
